Reflection: What the moon means to me

It has always been the same routine since the beginning of time. Sunrise, sunset and then there is the moon. Of course everybody knows that.

From birth till you grow old, you already notice the moon. So many myths centered around this fine creation of God. Some say if you look closely at the moon, you will see a woman carrying a baby on her back. Others say a little boy was trapped in the moon....I'm sure you were told all sorts of stories about the moon growing up.

For sure I was. But just like everybody else, I paid no attention. Of course I admired her beauty every now and then.

But on this faithful day, a dear showed me the moon from another perspective. She was so mesmerised and fascinated by her. The way she spoke of the moon would make you fall in love immediately. She taught me of how the moon changes everyday and how she disappears and then comes back every month. She said "The moon is reborn every month". There was even a time when I was down ( you know that feeling of you are not enough?) she told me that no matter how small the moon is, no matter what phase, quatermoon, half moon or full moon phase, she doesn't let anyone stop her from shinning. Then she said no matter how little you think your light is, let it shine. This boosted my energy.

From that time, I will looked at the moon, almost regularly, well more than I looked at it before. She was always beautiful.

One night I woke up to do laundry so I can have more time, a longer day. I was scared, there was no electricity but when I stepped outside, it was bright. Then I looked up and saw it was the moon.

I remembered what was written. He created the sun to give light by day and the moon by night. I praised Him for this.

Then another time, just after sunset, it hit me, whether sun or not, the moon is always there, whether she shows herself or not, she is still above, up in the sky. There is someone I chose not to notice and I forget. The Holy spirit. Whether I feel it or not, He is always with me.

So for me, the moon is a reminder, not to be worshipped but to praise God for his existence. That whether I feel it or not. I know He is always with me. So I always say this "Fresh as the morning sure as the sunlight, God is always faithful. He remains thesame yesterday, today and forever". Of course you can't compare God to that but...you get my point...

What about you?
What does the moon signify to you?
